We have the great pleasure of inviting you to participate and present your Sandplay work at our next ISST International Congress. The congress will be held in Berlin, emphasizing the main theme “Dreaming with the Hands”.
Sandplay can be seen as an active dreaming, which happens – compared to the common night dreams – not while sleeping but in the presence of a therapist and in the space of the therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist.
As Edgar Allan Poe (1809 – 1849), a most famous American writer and expert on symbolism, says:
“Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.”
We all know that our hands sometimes do know more than our heads and that the sandtrays, sand and figures contain and show images of psyche in process. Sandplay can bridge inside and outside, reality and phantasy and more. Archetypal images can help to confront deep emotions, fears and threats, recollections and even what lies in shadow and is not yet visible. Important things come back later if we do not understand them at first.
We are happy to welcome Sandplay therapists from all over the world and all those who are interested in sharing with us their ideas and experiences based on different approaches to psychotherapy.
We want to do this in an open atmosphere of public and personal interchange via
The German Capital Berlin, in particular during late summer/early fall gives perfect opportunities for meeting each other, coming together, discovering history, the present and the future. Enjoying international culture in an agile, vivid, and urban setting facilitates exploring ourselves. Through communication with others we may approach the provocations, needs and challenges of our global world.
We look forward to welcoming you as participants and presenters!
